Pluralism is Dead

Pluralism is dead. Our country was founded to be a pluralistic society. Sadly, we are now living in a relativistic society that has replaced the belief that truth is objective and can be known, with the belief that it is subjective and everyone is correct even when they hold contradictory beliefs. I also think most Americans, thanks to the public and private school systems, confuse a pluralistic society and a relativistic society. Pluralism= Objective truth exists and this fact is accepted nearly universally. The right to live by truth as you understand it is respected; disagreements are discussed with civility, … Continue reading

By My Own Free Will Catholic

I am, by my own free will, Catholic. Catholic among people who often see being Catholic as proof that I am enslaved.  I am Catholic everywhere and in every interest. It means that in areas of interest where the norm is secular, neo-pagan, or a hodgepodge of whatever the individual cobbled together for a personal religion, I stand rather alone in my adherence to Catholicism, with the deposit of faith given us by God, maintained by God through the Church, and properly interpreted for application by that Church and no other. My husband asked me the other day why, when … Continue reading

SCANDAL! Public Catholics promoting heresies

Catholics in public office or speaking in a public venue to thousands of listeners have an obligation to avoid promoting a known heresy. Nobody today could possibly be ignorant of the Church teachings on contraception and abortion. Possible perhaps to be confused on the Church’s teaching on marriage or the 1st Amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America, but NOT possible to be confused on contraception and abortion being gravely wrong, sinful, and completely contrary to Church teachings on LIFE. Catholics no matter what vocation they have are ALL obligated to know the faith and to clearly … Continue reading

Author of Liberty

Catholics are expected to know and love what is good and worthy about our country.  We should remember and pass on to our children our patriotic traditions so that they will appreciate what it means to be a citizen. Catholic teaching also urges non-citizens living in this country to learn the patriotic traditions of the United States in order to honor and respect those traditions. Here are a few essentials to review for ourselves and pass on to our children and to all new immigrants. AMERICA On this day of Patriotic Celebration, please sing this prayer for our country: (This … Continue reading

Prayer Request

Attacks Growing Worse against Bishop Jenky for THIS SERMON. Pulpit Freedom is a 1st Amendment movement. Pray for our leaders; All our leaders. Dear Lord, please protect and support our Bishops, especially those singled out for their proclamation of TRUTH. Thank You for these men of courage and grace. Please have mercy on all the members of Your body and grant us more Bishops who will boldly stand for the teachings of Your Church.  Please defend Your bride. Amen. … Continue reading

POLL: Vote in the TIME Magazine poll

Fr. Z over at WDTPRS brought this Time Magazine poll to my attention. Given what is going on in the USA right now, Timothy Card. Dolan, as President of the USCCB engaged on our behalf in a battle with the White House over the religious liberty and civil rights of all Americans… and making headway… is nothing if not “influential”. Card. Dolan should be on that list.  If he is on that list, he’ll get some “street kred”, though the newsies will ignore it.  Will it make huge difference?  Perhaps not.  But when pundits and talking heads prattle about this our battle … Continue reading

Religious Liberty: Freedom of Religion vs Freedom of Worship

This change in language is often coupled with another bit of lesser-known subterfuge used to rob people of their God-given freedom, the corporatizing of rights.  By this, I mean the attempt to take rights that naturally and rightly belong to the individual and apply them only to a group.  When these rights belong only to a group, then the government can determine who belongs to this group.  This group will steadily become smaller and smaller until the right does not seem to exist at all. — Pat Archbold Our Liberties in general are under attack in the United States and … Continue reading

No Compromise

George Weigel write a most excellent article titled, NO COMPROMISE, that sums up the entire attack by our government on our religious liberty. “We are not allowed to place the things of God on the altar of Caesar, Non possumus! [We cannot!].” — Stefan Cardinal Wyszyński “Indeed, this is not about the Church wanting to force anybody to do anything; it is, instead, about the federal government forcing the Church . . . to act against Church teachings.” — “United for Religious Freedom” The battle against evil in the spiritual realm is manifesting itself in the material realm through the … Continue reading

Liberty and Prayer for Our Country

Lovely harmony.  Nailed our Anthem even though it can be a difficult tune to sing. I love our anthem, I love the words and what they represent.  I love our country, its documents and traditions.  I love Liberty that prevents tyrants from interfering with Christians living as Christians. I see our Liberties being violated by the current and previous administrations and most people fail to see how far things have gone.  I am sad and anxious about these changes because when Liberty is violated the government will eventually persecute those who resist the loss of Liberty. I pray for our … Continue reading

Why I Reject Contraception: A Woman’s Perspective

HEALTH THREATS Initially, my decision to reject artificial birth control was based on health issues.  This article on the health risks for women in the birth control mandate gives a decent run-down of the health issues pertaining to the use of artificial birth control.   I was in college and the doctor would always ask me if I wanted birth control pills whenever I went in for my yearly check-up.  I found it rather annoying since, as a person who had decided to wait until marriage to indulge in the pleasures of sex, I had no need for birth control.  Oddly … Continue reading
