Thoughts On a Saturday Morning

My heart grieves for the families in CT who have lost loved ones in a senseless shooting at an Elementary school.  There should never be gun free zones because evil will choose those places preferentially.  Teachers and administrators need the means to defend themselves and their students.  It is a horrible tragedy and I pray for all involved. An acquaintance is returning to work, placing her baby in a daycare, and grieving the necessity. This brings home to me how blessed I have been to stay home with my children. Even more, how blessed I am to be free to … Continue reading

Guns, Self Defense, Defense of the Innocent, and Gun Free Zones

Catholic Social Responsibility includes a right to self defense and an obligation to defend the innocent.  Something worth thinking about when considering our Second Amendment Right to keep and bear arms.  In many states this means keeping a gun in the home, or getting a license to carry a concealed gun for self defense. Civilization As the Supreme Court hears arguments for and against the Chicago , IL , Gun Ban, here is a stellar example of a letter (written by a Marine), that places the proper perspective on what a gun means to a civilized society. Interesting take – … Continue reading
