“A Prophetic Voice of Four Cardinals of the Holy Roman Catholic Church”

Bishop Athanasius Schneider has asked that this letter be shared widely. I respect this man for his wisdom, learning, and orthodoxy so here is the complete text of his letter, found at Catholic World Report, just click to go there: A Prophetic Voice of Four Cardinals of the Holy Roman Catholic Church. Of course, I would like to have pasted the entire letter here, but for some odd reason I cannot cut and paste from the document I downloaded. Very odd, clearly I am missing some detail of technological skill. If the letter appears here, then I learned something new! … Continue reading

Book Review: FOR GOD AND PROFIT

FOR GOD AND PROFIT is a small book, written by Samuel Gregg, and subtitled, HOW BANKING AND FINANCE CAN SERVE THE COMMON GOOD. The forward is written by George Cardinal Pell. I am simply loving this book. Quotes of Popes and Church Fathers, a clear understanding of our economic system, and written in a way that our High School age students will be able to benefit in their understanding of our economy and how their decisions can influence it so it serves the common good. FINALLY a Catholic book on Finance that actually uses all the documents of the Church … Continue reading

Statement of Where I Stand

Guess what people? I consider ABORTION=MURDER. There, I have said it. I am against the murder of a baby for any reason. No argument has ever been made that will sway me. No argument has ever been made that would make keeping it legal OK with me. Those, like the Democratic candidate for president, who are in favor of abortion through all 9 months gestation, are in favor of murdering viable full-term babies. If you vote for such a person you are helping to promote that agenda. Turn your back on me–I do not care. If you can stomach voting … Continue reading

Jesus Meant What He Said

We lack comprehension of Scripture.  For example, Jesus meant what He said, and He said that it would be better to die than to harm a child.  Commonly we pass over the millstone around the neck/thrown into the sea passage, but should we? Is it not important to understand the magnitude of that little statement about the fate of those who harm even one child and view with horror their and our potential fate? Ours is a callous age. We execute infants placed in the womb by the participants in the reproductive act. This is not an invader, this is … Continue reading

NFP–Some Thoughts

Sex talk really has no place on a Catholic NFP list.  Recently I wandered into an NFP discussion and found it to be one long complaint about all the physical sex acts that were not allowed during fertile periods.   All I thought was FIRST, not one of those people had a clue about real intimacy and SECOND the discussion was almost pornographic. The world is full of sex sex sex.  Love is equated with the reproductive act, rendered sterile, and promoted as a right and this mentality has followed young couples right into the Church. So much so that … Continue reading

Why I Am Pro-Life

I am Pro-Life because I hold firmly the principle of non-aggression. Abortion is an act of aggression against a living person in a womb. Two reasons given for this act of aggression being allowed are “it is my body” and “it is an act of aggression against me that this person co-opted my womb.”  I disagree. An act of aggression can only be committed by a person free to choose to do otherwise and the embryo has no choice in the matter of where he or she ends up. In this, the embryo in your womb is more victim than … Continue reading

Destruction of Purity

Several friends were discussing the the changes in our education system which even the parochial schools are embracing. We discussed a book assigned to middle school children written in first person from the perspective of a pedophile and everyone felt that it was not appropriate reading material for a child who is barely entering puberty.  They were wondering what the agenda was that caused the writers of this program to select a book about sexual deviancy for children who do not yet have their own healthy sexuality set solidly.  We agreed that the pornographic sex education was just wrong and … Continue reading

Forgiveness

Forgiveness as a commandment is not easily applied, especially when the harm is great.  When the heart cries out for justice, and the grief runs so deep the body can hardly contain it, this is the point at which faith is tested. Trusting in the God who claims all vengeance for His own and commands His followers to forgive takes will power, especially when the harm is not only to yourself but also to those you love. I forgive the harm to me personally.  The harm to others is not mine to forgive. I ask God’s mercy on those who … Continue reading

First Causes of a Catholic/Orthodox Crisis

Today, over at LifesiteNews, I read a very very good post by a priest who sadly had to close their elementary school. It is an excellent article about how most parishes have contracepted themselves nearly out of existence and then people object to schools and parishes closing. This good man has written an article for discussion that is worthy of discussion. Here is a bit from the article: In my January 2010 letter to my bishop asking his permission to close our school, I wrote: Bishop, it is with a heavy heart that I request this of you. As you … Continue reading
