Pope Benedict Decides to Retire February 28, 2013

Our beloved Pope Benedict XVI has announced he will retire at the end of the month. February 28, 2012 will mark the end of his pontificate. He sites his health and mental acuity and the demands of the job as reasons for his decision.  May God bless him! My first response was denial, next tears. He has been God’s man his whole life and never wanted to be Pope, planning instead after the enclave that elected him to retire to his home and write books. I feel gratitude for his service to God even when it was contrary to his … Continue reading

Difficulties in Raising Children CATHOLIC

Raising children to be good Catholics, true to the fullness of the Faith, is difficult enough with most of secular society teaching a different philosophy, but then we get nuns who teach heresies publicly and the Bishop does not announce that they are excommunicated.  Doesn’t the Bishop realize that by allowing this woman to continue in her errors without strong public correction he makes it harder for me to convince my children that her words are WRONG? Sister Donna Quinn, a Chicago native who has been a Catholic nun for over 50 years, said it’s about time for Illinois to … Continue reading

SCANDAL! Public Catholics promoting heresies

Catholics in public office or speaking in a public venue to thousands of listeners have an obligation to avoid promoting a known heresy. Nobody today could possibly be ignorant of the Church teachings on contraception and abortion. Possible perhaps to be confused on the Church’s teaching on marriage or the 1st Amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America, but NOT possible to be confused on contraception and abortion being gravely wrong, sinful, and completely contrary to Church teachings on LIFE. Catholics no matter what vocation they have are ALL obligated to know the faith and to clearly … Continue reading

Home School Conference

Catholic Home School Conference this Friday and Saturday in Houston TX. There are not a lot of home school conferences that serve Catholics. Few Catholic curriculum providers are invited to have booths at the other home school conferences. Few Catholic speakers are invited to give talks at other home school conferences and certainly none that are boldly Catholic in their choice of topics. We ignore this prejudice because we recognize that for most non-Catholics it doesn’t even occur to them that the prejudice might be offensive. We accept that none of our good Catholic Curriculum providers will be advertising in … Continue reading

No Compromise

George Weigel write a most excellent article titled, NO COMPROMISE, that sums up the entire attack by our government on our religious liberty. “We are not allowed to place the things of God on the altar of Caesar, Non possumus! [We cannot!].” — Stefan Cardinal Wyszyński “Indeed, this is not about the Church wanting to force anybody to do anything; it is, instead, about the federal government forcing the Church . . . to act against Church teachings.” — “United for Religious Freedom” The battle against evil in the spiritual realm is manifesting itself in the material realm through the … Continue reading

Trust and the Bishops

The following video hit home with me.  The American Bishops have  been defining “social justice” not according to the documents of the Church but instead according to the Democratic party for many years now.  Because of this error, the care of the poor has been shifted from the Church to the government. True charity given freely has been replaced by forced taxation. Subsidiarity has been replaced with big government. The Christian serving Christ in the poor has been replaced by a hireling who follows rules and has little time or incentive to care about the individual.  Human dignity suffers, opportunity … Continue reading

Awesome Priests

I was browsing the internet for another post I plan to make and came across a comment about Catholic Priests who pray the prayers of exorcism outside of abortion clinics.  All I could think was COOL!!  Another blogger at the blog Coming Home quoted the article and there were some good comments on that blog: here. Although I found the initial reference on the blog Barefoot and Pregnant. These priests are awesome! Just sayin’ Here is something I pray for priests and bishops: Dear God, please give great strength to the guardian angels of all priests and bishops. Please give … Continue reading
