Braiding hair for SCA

Another incredible video by Janet Stephens.  I dislike doing hair but would love to find someone who wants to do hair for SCA activities!  I’m sure I can make some trim or something to exchange! For more, go look up her videos on youtube. She has a whole channel. I find her videos really really interesting!!  Try my previous post gushing over her work. Dear Lord, thank You for the many creative things You have made possible for human beings to do with hair. Help us to use well all that creativity You placed in each of us. +Amen … Continue reading

Great Weight Write Off: Weekend at the Festival

I spent this weekend at the Winter Festival of Acoustic Music and visiting a dear friend of my husband’s who I find to be a delightful human being.  I tried hard to remain on my diet but did not do too well.  I refuse to ruin my marvelous weekend by getting on the scale because there is no way I did not gain any weight. Thank You for … Continue reading

Arts and Sciences: SCA

I fairly commonly go on about the fun I have in the Society for Creative Anachronism.  My favorite part, that dovetails with my love of history and my interest in learning enough to live and breath and write in my chosen time period, is the Arts and Sciences competitions.  I find such things very exciting and am eagerly working toward the day when I am able to compete. This years Kingdom Arts and Sciences competition, for our Kingdom, took place last weekend.  I could not go but a good soul (THANK YOU) filmed the exhibits and the announcement of who … Continue reading

Ice and Fire Crown Tournament is a big Society for Creative Anachronism event for Ansteorra, hosted this year by the Shire of the Shadowlands.  I attended, had a lot of fun, and participated by helping to prepare all the food for the Soup Kitchen we set up for lunch for what may have been around 150 people or so. [official count 206 persons attended the event!] The cooking started in December.  I prepared the base for the beef stew and had planned to take it to a work day at Isabelot de Florin’s house but had a wreck that morning. … Continue reading

Fun Read! It Was Only On Stun!

IT WAS ONLY ON STUN has now been published. This link gives you the source for a print copy but you can get a KINDLE copy from Amazon.com. I enjoyed this rollicking good tale. It spoofs dozens of science fiction, fantasy and other literary sources and does so with delightful good humor. I liked it.  Is it Tolkien, Heinlein or Austen– noooo, but it isn’t trying to be either. It is written more in the spirit of Robert Asprin. While reading, I was constantly on the alert for the various references to other scifi cultures and that was plain fun.  … Continue reading
