Pope Francis is making it clear that he is a different person from his predecessors and this is causing discomfort and fear among the laity. There are some ugly accusations being bandied about with nary a shred of concrete evidence. Fr. Z, over at WDTPRS, wrote Liberals will soon turn on Pope Francis. This caused me to do some thinking. Detachment is a marvelous concept which is essential to the fulfillment of any vocation. Detachment is that inner disposition which clings to God and refuses to cling to anything or anyone else in that same way. Detachment is the inner freedom to use and enjoy the material goods of this world without becoming enslaved to them.
