Advent Preparation: Gratitude

Someone on Facebook asked the question, “What do you want for Christmas if you could have anything?”   I wish I could find it again so I could thank the person who asked because thanks to that question and my effort to find an answer for it I gained a deeper appreciation for what is right and good in my life and found my focus for Advent.

The focus is gratitude.  I am so happy with my life that there is nothing I actually want that I don’t already have.  I want a husband to love who loves me back–got him. I want kids–have them. I want us all healthy–blessed that way too. I want the bills all paid–we manage it. I want a home–we have one and the roof leak seems to be fixed now! Cars? ours are running reliably. I sew, and I have a nice machine for that. I play autoharp and I have two different ones to play and one to loan out. I enjoy using a computer– this little laptop is older but works very nicely. I have books to read and a printer to copy out articles to study. I just go looking at my life and it is just fine. I need nothing else.

I think that opportunity to realize how good my life IS has been the best gift I could have received this Christmas.

So, whoever asked the question, “if you could have anything for Christmas what would it be?”  THANK YOU.

UPDATE: I found who asked, the exact wording of the question was, “If you got exactly what you wanted for Christmas, what would it be?” and I was able to thank Travis Koock for asking it!!  🙂
