HAPPY NEW YEAR!!  Clang the bells and welcome in 2013!  I very likely am sleep as this posts for me automatically (Thank God for WordPress!) but my heart is in the welcoming of the New Year. I hope for everyone much grace and many blessings in the coming year. Remember that Jan I, 2013 is a Feast Day and Holy Day of Obligation. I hope everyone sings a wonderful Marian hymn or two to honor Mary, Theotokos. Let us be sure to seek willful holiness, sanctity, and all the virtues in the coming year so that we become better examples … Continue reading

Memories of Childhood

Over at A Woman’s Place…Depends On Her Vocation, she posted on the determination of her little one in hunting for the hidden gifts.  This made me smile as I recalled a time my brother and sister and I managed to FIND the Christmas gifts about a week before Christmas. Our Dad had quite the challenge to convince us that because Santa could not possibly get to EVERY house in one night that he often chose some parents to be helpers and take an early delivery of the Santa presents. They were quickly re-hidden and we didn’t see them again until … Continue reading

2nd Day of Christmas: Feast of St. Stephen

2ND DAY OF CHRISTMAS! Say joyfully: CHRIST IS BORN, GLORIFY HIM! Remember: on the Liturgical Calendar Christmas lasts until the Epiphany!  The Three wise men are still traveling, led by the star, and the Christ Child is in grave danger from King Herod. Of course, it is a traditional story rather than the Bible that names the wise men, but this song is just so wonderfully sung by the great Mario Lanza that it has been a favorite of mine since childhood. FEAST OF ST. STEPHEN This is the day for remembering the first Christian Martyr who is also one … Continue reading

Ah, Christmas day.  Marvelous day!  Attended Mass accompanied by ALL my kids, my grandbaby and my hubby!  Music was traditional, nothing heterodox or narcissistic, and led nicely by a cantor who doesn’t try to make leading the music all about performance. The day is quiet, low key, and we are watching Christmas movies.  Peace and Joy here.  We are so very blessed to live in this country. So I thought I’d try to add a video I found on you-tube. and here is a second one: I guess I get to see if this worked after I post. I do … Continue reading

Luke 2: 1-20 Douay-Rheims Bible 1 AND it came to pass, that in those days there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that the whole world should be enrolled. 2 This enrolling was first made by Cyrinus, the governor of Syria. 3 And all went to be enrolled, every one into his own city. 4 And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem: because he was of the house and family of … Continue reading

Advent Preparation: Gratitude

Someone on Facebook asked the question, “What do you want for Christmas if you could have anything?”   I wish I could find it again so I could thank the person who asked because thanks to that question and my effort to find an answer for it I gained a deeper appreciation for what is right and good in my life and found my focus for Advent. The focus is gratitude.  I am so happy with my life that there is nothing I actually want that I don’t already have.  I want a husband to love who loves me back–got him. … Continue reading
